Last Saturday my game night group hit a perfect 8 player session and it was magic

I usually host board game nights at my place in Portland, and we have a solid group of 4 or 5 regulars. But last Saturday, somehow everyone showed up at once - all 8 of us. I thought it was going to be a mess, you know, too many cooks in the kitchen. But we pulled out a copy of Captain Sonar (the real time submarine game) and it was incredible. Each person had a clear role - someone on navigation, someone on weapons, two people managing systems. The energy in the room was nuts, people shouting coordinates and laughing when we blew ourselves up by accident. We ended up playing 4 rounds in a row, which never happens with my usual group. Has anyone else had a game night where the player count just clicked perfectly like that?

My last 8-player game of Telestrations ended with me drawing what looked like a potato that was actually supposed to be a penguin.

And then by the third round that potato-penguin probably turned into a lava lamp or something, right? That's the whole beauty of Telestrations, the chain just gets more and more derailed until nobody has a clue what the original word was. I once drew a simple house that somehow turned into a taco truck by the time it got back to me. The worst part is when you're the one who starts the chain with something super basic like "cat" and six people later it's described as "a fuzzy accountant doing taxes." It really makes you realize how different everyone's brains work, especially when you see the wild leaps people make between the drawing and the guess. Did your group end up just laughing so hard you couldn't even finish the game?
