Sewed my first Coptic stitch book and the spine cracked on the third open
Last Tuesday I was finishing a Coptic stitch journal for my sister's birthday and I felt so good about it. I used waxed linen thread and everything looked tight. Then she opened it three times and the whole spine cracked right down the middle. I had pulled the stitches way too tight through the signatures and it tore the paper holes. I cut the whole block free, redid the holes with an awl at 2 inches apart instead of 1 inch, and re-sewed it with way less tension. The new one has held up fine for two weeks now. Any of you got tips for keeping Coptic tension right without it feeling loose?
