My 3rd chimney crown in Cincinnati finally made me get a bevel trowel

I fought with a flat trowel for years on chimney caps, always leaving ragged edges that needed extra patching. Last Thursday on a job near Hyde Park, my wrist gave out after hour two and I just stopped at the supply house for a proper bevel trowel mid-job. What a difference, the mortar stuck exactly where I wanted it and the crown went on in a single pass. Why did nobody tell me sooner, how long did it take you guys to switch over?
