Am I the only one who fed 4 people for $11 all week after a church pantry haul in Akron?
So last Monday my neighbor dragged me to a church pantry over on Copley Road in Akron and I almost didn't go because I figured it was just dented cans. Honestly I walked out with a 5 pound bag of rice, two dozen eggs, a giant block of government cheese, and like 8 cans of beans, all free. That night I made a big pot of rice and beans with onion and a little cumin and the whole apartment smelled amazing. Tuesday I did fried rice with leftover rice, eggs, and frozen peas that were hiding in the back of my freezer. Wednesday was bean quesadillas with that cheese on tortillas I got for $1.29 a pack at Aldi. Thursday I made egg fried rice again but switched up the spices so nobody complained. Friday I did rice bowls with beans, a fried egg on top, and hot sauce, and my girlfriend said it beat the $14 bowl place downtown. I added it up Sunday night and the whole week plus a few staples came to $11 out of my own pocket. Now I'm wondering what pantry items you all stretch the farthest, because I still have half that bag of rice sitting here.
