My pressure cooker lid flew off and painted my ceiling with lentil soup

Last Tuesday I tried to save time by using my grandmother's ancient Presto cooker for a $3 bag of dried lentils, and when the gasket gave out, the whole kitchen looked like a crime scene from a budget cooking disaster, so has anyone else had a cheap fix turn into a bigger mess than the meal was worth?
