The $9 rice cooker from Goodwill that runs my whole week now
I grabbed a little 3-cup rice cooker at the Goodwill on 8th for $9 about two months ago, mostly as a joke since it looked like it survived a dorm room in 2006. Turns out that thing cooks rice, oats, and steamed carrots while I'm in the shower, and I've made roughly 60 meals in it so far. My first try was a disaster though, I dumped in a whole can of chili with the rice and it turned into this gluey orange brick I had to chisel out with a butter knife. Now I do rice on the bottom, frozen veggies in the steamer tray up top, and a fried egg on everything after. Total cost per bowl is maybe 80 cents and I eat it four nights a week. Does anyone else run a dirt cheap appliance into the ground like this, and what should I try cooking in it next?
