Why does nobody talk about using canned lentils in pasta sauce?

I got tired of spending $4 on a bag of dried lentils that took forever to cook, so I tried a $1.29 can of lentils from Aldi in my spaghetti sauce last Tuesday. I just rinsed them, threw them in with the crushed tomatoes, and it thickened up the sauce perfectly without any extra simmering time. Has anyone else swapped dried beans for canned in their weeknight recipes and found a good brand?

Oh absolutely, canned lentils are a weeknight lifesaver. I keep a few cans in the pantry now for exactly this.

Wait, are we talking about canned lentils or dried? Canned are already cooked so they're more of a dump and heat thing, not soak. Just a heads up in case you grabbed the wrong kind lol.
