Picked a $30 fish tape over the fancy glow rod set, kinda regret it on this attic run
Had to pull three cat6 lines through a blown-in insulation attic in Puyallup last Thursday. My old steel tape kept snagging on the cross beams, so I grabbed a cheap fiberglass one from the supply house. It bent and kinked after the second pull, and I spent an extra hour wrestling it back out. Anyone else stick with the basic stuff to save cash and end up paying for it in time?
That "cheap fiberglass" move is a classic lesson in false savings. Blown-in insulation is already a nightmare without your tape kinking on you, feels like the house is fighting back. I did the same thing last year and spent more time untangling than pulling. At some point your hourly rate makes that $30 look real expensive.
