Back when I started, I'd clean shutter blades with a cotton swab and lighter fluid... now I use a specific brush and pure naphtha after a bad smudge on a Leica M3.

Remember when we all had plastic screen protectors that felt like sandpaper. The smudges were just part of the deal, a greasy haze you accepted. Now with glass, it's this perfect, cold surface that shows every single fingerprint like a crime scene. The clarity makes the mess feel like a personal failure. We traded a little scratch resistance for a lifetime of microfiber cloths.
