Can we talk about cleaning Pentax meter prisms with a heat gun vs. chemicals?

I work at a shop in Portland and we had two K1000's on the bench with foggy prisms. One guy used acetone to break the seal and clean it that way, took him nearly an hour. I tried a heat gun at 200 degrees to soften the foam separation instead. The heat method took about 10 minutes and left NO residue at all. Has anyone else switched over to thermal for these older Pentax bodies or am I just getting lucky?

Wait, how hot did you actually go with it? I'm always scared I'm gonna melt something I shouldn't be melting, especially around that plastic housing. Did you focus it on a specific spot or just wave it over the whole thing?
