Skeptical about the $8 tire pressure gauge from a truck stop in Brandon, turns out it's dead on
I run a bike hauler setup out of Manitoba and I've always used a fancy digital gauge I paid way too much for. Back in March I was fueling up near Brandon and the digital one died on me, so I grabbed a cheap pencil gauge off the rack for $8 just to get home. I figured it would be junk and read 5 psi off or something. But when I checked it against two different shop gauges at a buddy's garage in Winnipeg, it matched both within half a pound every time. I've been carrying it in my jacket pocket for 4 months now and it hasn't let me down once. Now I'm wondering how many other cheap tools I've been ignoring because they don't look serious. What's the one bargain item in your kit that made you eat your words on the whole 'you get what you pay for' thing?
