Took my Yamaha out on the 401 near Kingston and a pothole ate my saddlebag bracket
Rode from Toronto to Kingston 3 weeks ago on my 2016 Yamaha FJ-09 and hit a pothole just outside Napanee that I never saw coming. The bracket on my left saddlebag snapped right off and the bag was hanging by one bolt for the next 40 km until I pulled into a Tim Hortons. I zip tied it with three ties from a guy in a pickup who saw the whole thing and just handed me a handful without a word. Got home that night and ordered a replacement mount, but now I am wondering if the stock brackets on these bikes are just too thin for Ontario roads. Anyone else running hard bags on a sport tourer around here, and do you reinforce the mounts or just keep spares in the tank bag?
