Is indoor car storage worth paying for, or is a good cover enough?

I've been paying $150 a month to store my 1990 Miata indoors in Denver, but my neighbor swears a $120 cover did the same job for his car in his driveway. Is indoor storage actually worth it, or should I stop wasting money and just get a good cover?
