Pulled the trigger on a foam pit for my garage last weekend
I closed the garage door on a floor jack handle and dented my quarter panel, so I cut some 2x4s and built a 4x6 foam pit to park over. Has anyone else built something like this to keep tools from wrecking their paint?

Oh man, I used to think foam pits in garages were overkill or just for drift cars but this totally changed my mind. I jammed a pry bar into my fender once trying to pop a clip and swore I'd never let a tool touch my paint again. So I built one of those cheap foam mats that interlock, covered it with a tarp, and it's saved me at least twice from dropping sockets on my hood. Now I'm kind of a believer, it's dumb not to do something simple like this if you actually work on your car at home.
