A guy in Bakersfield had me pull carpet out of a house that flooded twice, and the padding told the story
Three years back I got a call to rip out about 900 square feet of carpet in a rental near Bakersfield after the second flood in 18 months. The landlord swore the water only got to the baseboards both times, but when I peeled back the first corner in the hallway, that padding was black and crumbly and smelled like a wet dog. Turned out the first flood was never dried right, so the second one just woke up whatever was already living in there. I ended up hauling out 14 bags of wet pad plus tack strip that had rusted into mush. Has anyone else run into a landlord swearing a flood was no big deal when the pad says otherwise?
