I Was Dumping Pasta Water Down the Drain Until My Landlady in Buffalo Stopped Me
I was rinsing my spaghetti in cold water last Tuesday when my 68 year old landlady walked in and asked why I was throwing away the base of my sauce. She told me to stop rinsing and instead save about a cup of that starchy water, then toss it back into the pan with the sauce to make everything cling, and now my $1.89 box of noodles tastes like a $12 plate from a restaurant. Does anyone else have a cheap trick like this that a family member handed down, or am I the last person on earth who didn't know about the pasta water?
