Used a leaf blower on a soot clog, and the homeowner came out swinging a broom
Got called out to a place in Boise where the flue was packed so tight the smoke was coming back into the living room. I tried the usual rods and brushes for 20 minutes with no luck, so I grabbed my little battery leaf blower and taped a shop vac hose to the intake as a joke. Blew a puff of air down the cleanout and a chunk of creosote the size of a softball popped out the top like a cork. The homeowner heard the noise and ran out waving a broom because she thought I was blowing leaves on her roof. Has anyone else used airflow to break a tough clog, or am I just lucky she didn't call the cops?
