Serious question, why do so many people think planting trees is the only climate fix?
I keep seeing posts that act like planting a tree solves everything. It's a good thing, but it's not the main solution. A study from last year showed that even if we planted a trillion trees, it would only offset about 10 years of current emissions. The real work is cutting fossil fuel use now. I learned this from a climate scientist's talk online. What other big climate actions do you think get overlooked?

My buddy works in city planning and says fixing old buildings to waste less energy is huge but gets no press. It's boring work, sealing windows and swapping furnaces, but the numbers are crazy.

Exactly, the tree thing is a nice feel-good story that lets people ignore the harder fixes. That building retrofit point is spot on. It's not just houses either, old factories and warehouses leak heat and power like crazy. The real boring work, like better public transit and fixing the power grid, never gets the same hype but actually moves the needle.
