I finally get why my comic shop guy bags my pulls in a certain order, and it took a tornado warning to figure it out
So last Thursday I'm at Four Color Comics in Tulsa, right when the sirens start going off. The owner, Dale, just says everyone stay put and keeps bagging books like nothing is happening. I'm standing there nervous and I notice he's pulling my issues in a really specific order, oldest to newest, and he always puts the variant last. I asked him about it while we waited out the storm and he told me he's been doing it that way since 1994, so your stack reads in order before you even get home, and the variant on top keeps the cover from getting bent in the bag. Little thing, but I went home after the storm and reorganized my entire long box the same way. It made me think about how much of this hobby is just picked up from guys like Dale who never write it down anywhere. Anyone else learn something from their shop guy during a weird moment like that?
