Got humbled by a diver named Manny on a pipeline job outside Morgan City
I used to think the guy with the fastest bottom time was the best diver on the crew, until a job in 40 feet of murky water off Morgan City taught me otherwise. Manny, a 22 year veteran, took 45 minutes on a task I would have rushed through in 15, and when the supervisor asked why, he said the last diver who hurried on that same joint blew a gasket and cost the company two days of downtime. So my question is, how do you all balance speed and doing it right when the clock and the office are both pushing you?
