Can we talk about SSD health dropping after a sudden power loss?
I had a 2-year-old Samsung drive go from 98% to 72% health overnight after a brownout last week, but then a friend's Crucial drive took three hard crashes and stayed at 100%. Is it really the sudden power loss that kills them, or do different brands just report health differently?

@ben402 brings up a good point about brands measuring differently, but man, I must have bought the only drive that took "sudden power loss" as a personal challenge. 72% after one brownout is rough, but knowing Samsung's typically conservative reporting makes me wonder if my drive just woke up and chose violence that day.

72% after one brownout? That is insane, I've never seen a drop that steep from a single event. Samsung drives usually have a pretty conservative health reporting algorithm too, so that's wild it tanked that hard. Your friend's Crucial probably just measures wear differently, like some drives don't even count the metadata corruption as damage until it's way worse.
