Dropped $75 on a thermal camera phone attachment and it read every board the same temp

Used it on 6 laptops at my bench in Beaverton and it said all the chips were 92F, turns out the thing needed a firmware update that bricked the app, so now it just sits in my drawer, has anyone found a cheap attachment that actually reads hotspots right or should I just save for a real FLIR?
