DAE think slurried joints look better than hard troweled, or did I mess up on the Elm Street job?
Was finishing a 40x60 slab on Elm Street last Tuesday and the GC wanted a mirror finish, so I ran the power trowel with blades instead of pans and ended up with swirl marks all over the west corner. I told him we could either burn it in and hide the marks or leave it and call it a texture, and he picked the burn, which meant three more passes and a whole extra hour. Now the owner says it looks too dark compared to the control joints, and I'm catching heat for a call that was half his idea. Do you fight the GC on the finish spec or just eat the labor and keep the peace?
