Pro tip: skip the $180 vibrator plate and use a 2x4 to tap your forms

I bought an 8 foot concrete vibrator at a pawn shop in Amarillo for $180. Used it on 3 driveway pours and it left marks on the forms every time. A finisher with 22 years in the trade watched me fight it and said just tap the forms with a 2x4. Tried it on a 12x20 slab last Friday and the edges came out cleaner than anything the vibrator ever did. The tool sits in my truck bed now and I am out 180 bucks plus the gas I burned driving to get it. Anyone else got a tool they wish they had never bought?
