PSA: My backup drive failed and I lost 3 months of photo edits

Was editing a batch of client photos from a wedding I shot in Phoenix last month. My external hard drive just started clicking and then went silent. Tried three different cables and two computers, nothing. Now I'm sitting here trying to piece together what I had on there before it died. Has anyone found a solid way to recover data from a dead Seagate drive without spending a fortune?

Put the drive in the freezer for an hour, worked for me.

Whoa, seriously? That sounds wild but I've heard this hack before. @noah248 I gotta ask, did you wrap the drive in a plastic bag first? I read somewhere that moisture can mess it up if you just toss it in bare.
