Spent $40 on a UV flashlight for checking hotel rooms and it paid off immediately
Last month I dropped $40 on a UV light from Amazon to check for bed bugs in hotel rooms. First trip to a motel near Nashville, I found signs on the mattress seam within 2 minutes. Manager gave me a full refund and I slept in my car that night. Has anyone else actually used one of these on a trip or am I just paranoid?

Honestly I think you're kinda wasting your money here. I stay in hotels all the time for work trips and never once had a bed bug problem. Even if you do find something what are you gonna do about it? Sleep in your car sounds dangerous and uncomfortable compared to just asking for a different room. Most hotels will switch you out no questions asked without needing a special light. Plus you're probably gonna start seeing things that aren't there once you start looking that hard.

Has anyone else gotten so worked up about bed bugs that they ended up sleeping in a literal parking lot? I feel you though. On my first hotel check with a UV light, I saw some weird glow on the headboard and practically vaulted out of the room like a gymnast. Turned out it was just dried toothpaste, so I spent 20 minutes being paranoid for nothing while my wife laughed at me from the bed. Did you at least find a decent spot to park your car, or were you just counting on a gas station bathroom to brush your teeth?
