Bleach disaster on a Saturday appointment in Austin

Last month I had a walk-in client with box dyed black hair who wanted to go platinum. I knew it was risky but she insisted. The bleach lifted patchy and left orange spots around her crown, and she started crying in the chair. I spent 45 minutes doing a color correction with a toner and lowlights to blend it, and she ended up happier than the original plan. Has anyone else had a client push for a drastic change that you knew wouldn't work? How do you talk them down without losing the appointment?
