Chose booth rental over commission after 5 years, zero regrets so far

I finally made the jump last month after doing commission at the same salon in Austin since 2019. Kept going back and forth cause the commission was steady and I didnt have to worry about paying for my own color supplies. But I was giving up like 40% of my income and the front desk kept double booking me so I was rushing every haircut. My booth rent is $350 a week plus I now buy my own toner and foils which is about $200 a month extra. First week was scary, I had like 2 clients total. Now at week 4 I have a waitlist on Saturdays and I keep 100% of what I make. The part nobody warned me about is having to do all my own scheduling and reminders, but honestly I love not answering to anyone else. Has anyone else switched and went back cause they hated the admin side?
