Said no to perms for 6 years, then a client in Tucson changed my mind
I stopped doing perms back in 2019 after two clients in a row had their hair fry on me. Last Tuesday a woman sat in my chair at the salon in Tucson with fine, flat hair and said she wanted body that would last, not a blowout that dies by noon. I told her my usual speech about why I don't do them, and she said her last stylist used a gentler solution and a lower heat, then pulled out photos from 8 weeks after her last one. So I read up on the newer acid-based formulas that night and tried one on her the following week, and it actually held with zero damage. Now I'm thinking about adding them back to my menu, so if you do perms, what solution and rod combo are you using on fine hair?
