Spent $150 on a fancy styling chair and my back still hates me
I finally splurged on that ergonomic chair every influencer swears by, figured it would fix my 10 hour shift pain. Three weeks in and I'm honestly not sure it's any better than my old $60 one from a garage sale in Tulsa. The lumbar support digs in weird when I lean over to cut bangs, and the armrests get in the way during foils. Anybody else drop big money on equipment that just ends up being a fancy paperweight?

Maybe check the angle your chair is actually tilted at. Most people leave them perfectly level but when you're leaning forward for precise work, a slight forward tilt can change everything. I read about this from a physical therapist who works with stylists, she said the seat pan angle matters way more than the lumbar pad. Also, are you using the footrest? Those chairs only work if your feet are fully planted, and if you're short like me, the whole geometry gets thrown off. Idk if that's your problem but it's worth messing with before you give up on it.
