Appreciation post: the day I stopped fighting the load chart

For 4 years I eyeballed picks based on what felt right, not what the numbers said. Last month in Tulsa I had a 9 ton concrete panel that I swore was fine, but the swing was sketchy. My foreman walked over, pointed at the chart, and said 'read it like your license depends on it.' I checked, I was 1.2 tons over on the radius. That whole time I was running on gut and it could've gone bad. Anyone else have a close call that made them go full manual with the charts?
