Had a main hoist cable snap on me last Tuesday in Tacoma... never thought it would happen on a routine lift.

Man, that's the worst. Had a sling let go on a simple pipe load once, just dropped it right on the pad. Scared me straight for a month.

Read an article last year about how routine lifts are actually the most dangerous. People get complacent and skip small checks. The writer said most cable failures happen during boring, repeated jobs, not the big complex ones. Always stuck with me.
