Learning to bump a load with the swing brake instead of the hoist, saved me 20 minutes a pick
Back when I was running a 60 ton on a hospital job in Toledo, I used to fight every load that drifted off plumb by tapping the hoist and waiting for it to settle, which ate up 15 or 20 minutes a pick on a 9 hour day. An old hand named Ray showed me to bump the swing brake and let the boom tip walk the load over instead, and once I got the feel for it the loads just floated into place. Does anyone still teach that to new guys, or has joystick creep made it a lost art?
