I finally stopped plotting every chapter before writing, here's what sold me
Last month I was stuck on a fantasy novel outline, 40 pages of notes and no actual scenes written. Then I read a prompt on here that said 'write the ending first, then work backwards' and I tried it just to prove it wrong. I wrote the final battle scene in 2 hours, it was terrible but it got me moving. That backwards flow made me realize I was treating planning like a cage instead of a springboard. Has anyone else ditched their outline mid-project and just free-written to the end?
