TIL the reading room at the Cleveland Public Library has a whole shelf of old prompt books
I was killing time in the second floor reading room at the Cleveland Public Library last Saturday and found a shelf of writing exercise books from the 1970s, all with worn spines and notes in the margins. One had a prompt about describing a room by only what's missing from it, and I've been using that one all week. The margins had little comments from past readers too, which made me think each prompt could be its own thread here. What's the oldest prompt source you've stumbled on in a library or used bookstore?
