A VC quote from 2019 still bugs me

I read an old interview with a Sand Hill Road guy who said 'supply chain is solved, focus on brand.' That was 2019, right before 3 of my portfolio friends died on inventory bets. One in Austin burned $400k on container delays. Has anyone else noticed VCs just repeat whatever trend is hot that quarter?
