Saw a kid at the local art fair using a tablet to doodle on the grass

I was at the summer art fair in Portland last weekend and this kid, maybe 10 years old, just sat down on the grass with a Samsung tablet. He was sketching a dog that was walking by, not even looking at the screen half the time. It made me realize how much I overthink setting up my workspace before I draw. Has anyone else noticed younger artists just jumping in without all the gear?

Oh wow, another Portland kid making the rest of us look bad. Bet he didn't even agonize over which stylus to use for 45 minutes. Guess we're all just paying for gear we don't need while kids vibe with a $50 tablet and call it art.
