Local plumber rank tracker showed my site jumping 6 spots in 3 weeks thanks to one blog trick
I run a small plumbing site in Austin and was stuck at position 11 for "emergency drain cleaning" for months. Last month I started adding a short FAQ section at the bottom of every service page, just 3 real questions customers actually ask me on calls. Checked Search Console yesterday and we jumped to position 5 for that term, plus 2 other keywords moved up too. Turns out Google was pulling those Q&As into the results and people were clicking way more. Has anyone else had luck with small FAQ blocks like this, or does it only work in certain niches?
Did you write the FAQs yourself or pull them from a tool? I had almost the same thing happen with my handyman site, I started adding 3 or 4 real questions that people actually ask when they call, and within a couple months a few pages moved up 3 or 4 spots. Mine were about stuff like how long a repair takes and whether I bring my own tools, nothing fancy. I really do think it works because Google can match the exact words people type into search, and those longer questions get pulled into the results. The other thing I noticed is people stay on the page longer when they read the Q&A before they call, which probably helps too. It seems to work best when you use the real words your customers say, not some cleaned up version written for a search engine. My guess is it helps in most local service niches since everyone is asking the same basic questions before they hire someone.
