Serious question, my chain kept slipping so I flipped the derailleur hanger bolt trick a guy showed me
My chain was skipping on the 3 hardest gears for about two months and I kept blaming the cassette. A guy at the shop on Vermont Ave told me to check the hanger alignment before buying anything, so I bent a $4 bolt into an alignment gauge with a spare axle nut. I checked it against the wheel and found the hanger was off by maybe 3mm, which is way more than I thought. A gentle bend with an adjustable wrench and my shifting was clean again on the first ride. Has anybody else made their own alignment tool or do you just buy the real one?
