Just realized those goofy upside down tomato planters actually work
My neighbor Dale in Tucson gave me one of those cheap hanging tomato planters two years ago and I laughed at it, hung it on the fence as a joke. This summer it produced 31 cherry tomatoes while my fancy raised bed plants got wrecked by hornworms. Guess gravity keeps the bugs off the fruit or something. Anyone else have a garden gadget that looked dumb but actually earned its spot?
Ha, gravity doing the pest control for free, that is wild. My uncle swore by those things and I always gave him grief about it, now I owe him an apology. I hung an old CD on a string in my peppers last year to scare birds and it actually kept them off, felt real silly hanging a disco ball in the garden. Dale knew what was up. Sometimes the dumb looking stuff just works and we look stupid for laughing.
