Bought a $40 rotary tool kit for pedal enclosures, total garbage after one build
The chuck slipped three times drilling holes for a fuzz pedal last night, and now the bit is basically a nub. I should've spent the extra $20 on a real Dremel chuck set, anyone else tried the cheap kits and regretted it?

The cheap kits usually come with a 3-jaw chuck that just can't grip tight enough for the side load you get drilling metal, so it slips no matter how hard you crank it. A real Dremel 4486 keyless chuck runs about $20 and it's a totally different design that actually holds. That said, the slip itself might not be the whole story, if you're pushing the bit too fast or not letting the tool do the work, even a good chuck will walk on you. Get the real chuck first, then check your speed and feed before you blame the bit.
