Rant: my 2am coat rack came out looking like a boomerang and I can't figure out why
Tried to bend a strip of oak for a wall hook using a steam pot on the stove around 1am, and after 40 minutes in the steam it snapped right at the grain when I clamped it. I think my strip was too thick at 3/4 inch, but part of me wonders if the wood was just too dry to start. Anyone here bend wood without a real steam box, and if so what actually works for you?
