Why does nobody talk about annealing your styrene blanks before cutting?

I kept getting this weird warping on the last 3 blanks I cut, especially around the lead-in groove area. Then I tossed a blank in my oven at 175F for 20 minutes before cutting and the grooves came out way cleaner with no distortion. Has anyone else tried pre-heating their blanks or am I just wasting electricity?

I tried 180F once and my living room smelled like a vinyl factory for three days.
