Overheard a senior engineer say 'measure once cut twice' was just a joke until he messed up a $2,000 beam
I was at a supply house in Portland last Thursday grabbing some prints, and this older guy was telling the counter guy about a mistake he made on a commercial job. He said he rushed a dimension check on a steel beam and had to eat the whole $2,000 reorder. It stuck with me because I've totally been there on smaller stuff, like laying out wall panels wrong and wasting half a day. Has anyone else had a simple measurement slip up turn into a bigger headache than you expected?

Messed up a wall layout once because I wrote the number down wrong. Zero was actually an eight. Cost me three hours of cutting and patching drywall. You live and you learn but man it stings every time.
