My old boss bet me I couldn't move 8,000 yards in one shift, and I lost by 40
Back in 2019 I was running a 12 inch cutterhead on a harbor job in Toledo and my supervisor bet me a case of pop I couldn't push 8,000 yards through the pipe in a single 12 hour shift. I hit 7,960 and spent the last hour fighting a plug in the discharge line that cost me the bet, which still bugs me more than it should. Does anyone else feel like those round number targets are never about the dirt, they're about how the pump and the operator are reading each other that day?
