I refused to pay for insurance on a $60 order, until a buyer in Buffalo claimed the box arrived empty
For two years I shipped everything first class with no coverage because the odds seemed low and the extra $2.50 per label added up fast. Last month a buyer in Buffalo opened a case saying her $60 order showed up empty, and without proof of insurance I ate the whole refund plus shipping. My rep at the post office printed me a rate sheet and showed that covering up to $100 runs about $1.10 on a 12 oz package, which is way less than one lost sale. I ran the numbers on my last 400 orders and the peace of mind costs less than I thought. Anyone else insure everything now, or do you still roll the dice on cheap shipments?
