The painter who tried to cut corners with my driveway

Had a guy come by to give a quote on repainting my garage last spring. He spent 10 minutes looking at my concrete driveway and told me I should just paint it too with leftover house paint to match. I asked him if he'd ever heard of concrete sealer and he just shrugged and said 'it's all the same stuff'.

Did he also suggest using ketchup as a primer? Seems about as smart.

Wait, did @wendy_carr mention ketchup? That's actually a thing some people use as a rust converter on metal (weird but true) but definitely not for driveways. Anyway, the painter's real mistake was thinking house paint sticks to concrete (it doesn't, it peels like a sunburn within months). Concrete sealer is totally different stuff, made to bond with the porous surface and handle moisture coming up from below. He was probably just trying to upsell you on a quick job without the prep work (which is the actual hard part, you know).
