Rant: Just pulled 2,000 feet of wire through a conduit and only had one nick

Was doing a big commercial job in Phoenix and had to run 12/2 for a whole floor. Used my old wire lube and went slow. Anyone got a better trick for keeping the jacket clean on long pulls?

Pulling 2k feet with one nick is solid, but that's a crazy long run for 12/2. For runs that big, I'd never use a single length. Splicing in a junction box halfway would save so much friction and risk. Wire lube only does so much when you're fighting that much weight and distance. Breaking it into stages is the real trick for keeping jackets perfect.

Ever think about the extra time and cost of adding a box and splice though? Sometimes a clean pull with good lube and a solid crew is just faster.
