Wasted $180 on a "professional" hoof stand off Amazon
Bought this fancy adjustable stand thinking it'd save my back... looked great in the photos. First big draft horse I used it on, the leg clamp slipped right off the base. Horse got spooked, nearly kicked me in the face. Sent it back but the company charged a 40 restocking fee plus return shipping. After all that I was out about 75 bucks and three days of waiting. Ended up building my own stand out of some 4x4 and a ratchet strap for 20 bucks. Has anyone else had bad luck with those adjustable metal stands or is it just me?
Have you thought about checking consumer reports or the Better Business Bureau before buying gear like that? I read somewhere that a lot of those adjustable metal stands have issues with the welds breaking under heavy loads. Seems like your homemade solution was the smarter move all along.
