Update: A bride in Phoenix said she wanted 'no roses' because they're too basic
I overheard a couple at a market last week talking about their wedding flowers, and the bride was really firm about avoiding roses entirely. She called them 'overdone' and 'lacking personality.' I get wanting something unique, but I think writing off a whole flower type is a mistake (roses come in hundreds of varieties, you know?). For a recent order, I used a mix of garden roses, spray roses, and ranunculus, and the texture was amazing. Has anyone else had to talk a client out of totally banning a classic flower?

I used to totally agree with that bride, roses felt like the safe, boring choice for years. My view changed after working with a florist who showed me heirloom varieties like Juliet and David Austin roses. The scent alone was enough to change my mind, nothing basic about it. Now I see banning them just limits your options, because the right rose in a mixed bouquet adds serious depth. It’s like swearing off all wine because you don’t like the cheap stuff from the grocery store.

Yeah I saw a thing about how most people only know grocery store roses lol. @ruby_murphy is right, the fancy ones are a whole different thing.
